Deborah has more than 28 years of experience in sales, marketing and public relations, 22 of them as a small business owner. In 1998, she founded Spirit West Marketing, where her specialty is message development and creating targeted programs that drive sales.
Deborah most recently spent three years as vice president of enrollment strategies at ESM developing higher education contact center processes to improve the productivity of internal teams at colleges and universities nationwide. As vice president of corporate communications at Encore Media Group (now Starz), she built a new department responsible for overseeing public relations, public affairs and customer service for 11 cable television networks. She was also director of client relations at Meritage Private Equity Funds, coordinating investor relations activities and fundraising, along with corporate communications, marketing and public relations. In 1999, she founded Family Support Networks, a nonprofit organization that provided educational and emotional support programs to emergency responders and their families.
In her highly diverse career, Deborah has handled fundraising and event planning for presidential campaigns, developed international business for an investment banking firm, and owned and operated a franchise. She has started five businesses, ranging from a national non-profit organization to a publishing company. In addition, she has worked with both start-up and growth companies in industries including education, telecommunications, professional services, manufacturing and distribution, hospitality, sports, the arts and financial services.
